Spain – The Paradise of Good Moods

By john toretto at 2010-10-15 04:33:16
Spain is the place where Hercules’ apples used to grow and also the place which was considered by Arabs as “Heaven on Earth”. To writers like George Orwell and Ernest Hemingway, Spain was an arena where history was made at the border in between heroic acts and tragedy, where toreadors would defy death. Since ancient times, Spain has remained in the eyes of strangers a place full of mystery. Its unique landscapes, cultural diversity and the civilization mix which regarded it as an ideal place to settle left an original unique culture behind them and one very admirable experiment.

Known worldwide for its music, Flamenco dancing, bull fights and unique beaches with plenty of sun, Spain is just so much more than all of these. It was for centuries and still remains one of the most important cultural centers in Europe. Cities combine modern and classical architecture, but every region has its own distinctive features, climate and even personality. Spain is a country which needs to be thoroughly discovered. Spanish people say that their country is different, but they never say how or in what way. And that is the mystery many tourists are drawn by, seeking relentlessly for those adventurous and peaceful places within it.

Spanish Gastronomy

The Spanish cuisine is very distinct and it uses specific ingredients like olive oil, a large variety of vegetables, rice, garlic, which play a vital role in the preparation of traditional cuisines. In almost all regions of Spain you will be able to find fish, vegetable and pork specialties. If you want to taste the traditional specialties, tapas and sangria, you can find them at any restaurant.

Tapas are snack plates that are served as appetizers along with a glass of wine. The simplest kinds of tapas contain bacon, sausages and cheese while the more refined ones contain fish, shrimps, squid and seafood. Trimmed with traditional sauces, the tapas plates concentrate on the endless flavors of Spain.

One of the most popular drinks you can have in Spain is sangria and it consists of a refreshing mixture of wine, cognac and exotic fruit juice with small chopped pieces of kiwi, oranges, lemons, pineapple or mango.

Sports

Sport is like a passion to Spanish people. It does not matter if it is football (a true national obsession), golf, cycling or aquatic sports. These activities occupy a big part of the life of the inhabitants and they sure attract a lot of interest from tourists and fans alike.

If you do not like football, you should know that one of the most growing sports in the last years is golf. At this time, there are over 200 hundred golf courses throughout the country and the warm weather allows a prolonged season for golfing. Costa del sol is considered the capital of golf in Spain, a place where you can play your favorite game all year long. Here you can find over 30 golf courses, the most renowned ones being Real Sotonogrande, Valderrama and Duquesa. The former is situated between Marabella and Sotonogrande, it holds an 18 holes course and it is designed as a recreational complex where you can find gyms, saunas, pools, Jacuzzis, tennis fields, billiard tables and also enclosed pools.

Swimming, aquatic skiing and windsurfing can be experienced nearly on every beach in Spain. The best destination for the windsurfing passionate is Tariff, within the Gibraltar.

You can even practice navigation which is a very popular activity with almost 100 navigation clubs presently existing within the Mediterranean. If you love fishing, you can head more towards the mountain areas where you can fish for trout.

No matter what your adventurous desires are, you can sure be at ease when you choose to visit Spain. Being so close to the ocean and having a wonderful climate make this the perfect destination for everyone looking for a great and relaxing time!
